Education
My name is Rachel Shelton, I'm 21 years old, and I attend SHSU. I am an education major and I'm minoring in math 4-8. I graduated high school in 2012 with a 3.6 GPA and several honors including Magna Cum Laude, NHS, SNHS, and as the Mu Alpha Theta (math honors society) president. I danced for six years and practiced Tae Kwon Do for twelve; I received my black belt in 2005 (four years after beginning Tae Kwon Do) and my second degree black belt in 2010. I'm very dedicated and once I set my heart to do something, I do it!
Experience
My name is Rachel Shelton, I'm 21 years old and I'm an education major, minoring in math 4-8. I plan on becoming certified in upper level (high school maths) after teaching for a few years. I've always tutored my friends (who hated math) throughout grade school. Instead of just asking to copy my homework, they would come to me for a different perspective of the problem and ask how to solve it rather than the answer alone. I believe that in order to learn, you need two things: the information and the desire.

Hobbies
I have two dogs, a boyfriend, and a small group of girls that gets together every week when I lead bible study! I love coffee and have a strange addiction to coffee mugs. I strongly believe I'm doodling on the pages and walls and whatever else is mark-able. When I receive my degree and have my job as a teacher, my classroom will have at least one whole wall painted with chalk board paint from and at least one whole wall painted with dry-erase paint from top to bottom. I think what ever way you choose to find the solution to the problem at hand is completely necessary and worth it. I love math because there will always be answers. Math lets you find them on your own!
